For the last fifteen years Mike O’Brien has honed his skills as sculptor for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department creating sculpture that interprets both the cultural and natural history of Texas. His art is found throughout the state’s 120 parks and are seen and touched by thousands of visitors each year. O’Brien also designed and sculpted the six 11x16’ bas-relief panels depicting the story of Texas on the face of the Texas Museum of History in downtown Austin.
O’Brien often works in bronze and collectors have inquired about the availability of Mike’s sculpture but until now all the work he has done is owned by the state of Texas and was not available for sale. Mike is now producing sculpture in his own right and is making it available to the public.
O’Brien studied under Photographer George Krause and Sculptor James Surls and painter John Alexander at the University of Houston in the Early 80s after four years in the Air force.
